About me continued

steve mannion feet first charity.jpg

Whilst in Malawi I was the only orthopaedic surgeon for the central and northern regions of the country, a catchment population of 6-7 million people. Returning to the UK in early 2003 I did a short knee surgery fellowship at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospitals in London before taking up my post in Blackpool.

In my UK practice I welcome referrals in general orthopaedics, but I have a special interest in lower limb arthroplasty and knee arthroscopy. I continue to return to Malawi on a regular basis where I am still involved in training and research programmes.

My interests include fitness training, running, sailing and marathon canoeing. I play jazz / blues percussion and the blues harmonica.

I am very much a Lancashire lad; both my grandmothers were boarding house land ladies in Blackpool, I was educated at Arnold School in Blackpool and my first ever paid employment was on Blackpool Pleasure Beach selling hot-dogs!
